Heading off on a winter sports holiday soon? This complete packing list will help you hit the mountains well-prepared. We've compiled all the essentials for you – from warm skiwear to technical accessories – so you don't forget anything and can find the right gear right away.

1. Ski clothing & layers
A good winter sports outfit starts with technical clothing that keeps you warm and dry.

  • Baselayer tops & pants – breathable and quick-drying (check women's & men's ). Ideally, you'll want one set every two days, unless you're doing very intense activities like ski touring.
  • Midlayer or sweater (check women's & men's ). Over your baselayer, wear a sweater or technical sweater; choose thick or lightweight material.
  • Ski jackets and ski pants – waterproof, comfortable, and preferably with ventilation openings (check for women and men ). Choose a lined or technical hardshell.
  • Ski socks – seamless and heat-regulating (check women's & men's ).

2. Warm accessories
Warm accessories make all the difference on cold days.

  • Neck warmer or balaclava – protection against the cold (check women's & men's )
  • Hat(s) – from warm wool to technical models (check women's & men's )
  • Headband – stylish & perfect for touring or intense runs (check women's & men's )
  • Gloves or mittens – waterproof and insulated.

3. Protection & safety
Staying safe on the slopes starts with the right protection.

  • Ski helmet – mandatory in many areas and always a good idea.

  • Sunscreen & lip balm SPF – the mountain sun is strong.
  • Protector shorts and/or back protector – extra safety

4. Ski & snowboard equipment

  • Ski or snowboard boots - if possible, buy your own boots
  • Skis or snowboard - get expert advice on which one suits you best
  • Ski poles - adjustable if you plan to tour
