Poederbaas freeride kick-off

Freeride Kick-off

The freeride season starts early this year! Do you fancy riding powder with us in the Alps? You can! Together with our friends from Epique, we are organizing a freeride kick-off event in December.

This short trip to the Alps is much more than just skiing and snowboarding; it's about the camaraderie of a group of like-minded individuals looking for adventure and perfect snow conditions. A week before departure, together with Epique, we will decide on our destination so that we can find the very best conditions in the Alps. Freeriding in its purest form! You arrange your own accommodation; we provide experienced international guides and a great atmosphere.

  • Four days of adventure: Choose between freeriding or freetouring guided by experienced Epique guides.
  • Customized groups: We split the groups based on skill level and preferences, so everyone gets the most out of their adventure.
  • Accommodation flexibility: Whether you choose a budget option or a luxury stay, you arrange your own accommodation.

We select a top area such as Les Trois Vallées, Arlberg, Tignes – Val d’Isère, Davos, or Sestrière, depending on the weather forecast, snow cover, and current avalanche situation. This way, we guarantee optimal conditions for your freeride experience.

Important for you

On Wednesday evening, we gather at a restaurant for the opening and briefing. Over snacks and drinks, you'll meet your travel companions and guides. Together with your guide, you'll discuss the plan for the next day. In the morning, we'll meet at the valley station just before opening time.

After a gear check, we'll take the first lift up. We'll start calmly so everyone can get used to the snow and equipment, then dive into the powder as quickly as possible. The guide will be on hand with tips and tricks to perfect your powder runs. If necessary, we'll make time for a short safety clinic today. In the coming days, the guide will challenge you more and more, seeking out exciting freeride descents. Of course, this will be tailored to the group's ability level.

The free touring groups will head further into the backcountry and undertake a short tour daily. All details and a day-to-day itinerary can be found in the brochure.

Freeriding or touring

When registering, you can indicate your preference for a freeride or freetour group. Within these groups, we will divide participants by skill level. Of course, when making these divisions, we will take friends, couples, colleagues, etc. into account. The required skill level differs per group.

1. Freeride

Just 4 days of lift-accessed shredding in a group at your level, accompanied by a guide. For downhill skill levels: Intermediate to Expert

2. Freetour

Go deeper into the backcountry, searching for the most beautiful descents. Touring experience is not required. Please indicate your touring experience when booking. For downhill skill levels from intermediate to expert

Own accommodation

You book your accommodation for this trip yourself. This way, we are flexible and can decide where we go shortly before departure. Additionally, you can choose between luxury or budget accommodation. We will inform you where we book rooms for our guides; if you'd like, you can join us there.

Looking for someone to share a room or apartment with? You can do that via the WhatsApp group. You'll have lunch with your group on the mountain. After a day in the powder, arrangements will naturally be made for après-ski or a communal dinner.
